On Friday, October 21, First Presbyterian Day School will bring its annual fundraising event home to the Belhaven neighborhood. Make plans now to attend Holiday Potpourri 2016 at the home of Reed and Diane Hogan and the garden of Tim and Marsha Cannon on Pinehurst Street from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Guests will enjoy the traditional and fabulous Bountiful Bakery, Garden and Gift Gallery, and Silent Auction. Local restaurants return for the enticing Tasting Tea, and the FPDS Honor Choir and Strings are scheduled to perform.
Since 1974, Holiday Potpourri has provided critical support in enhancing the education of FPDS students, including a new science lab, iPads and Chromebooks for the classrooms, and an upgraded playground. This year funds are designated for improvements to the school’s performing arts equipment, including stage, sound, and lighting as well as for cosmetic improvements to the second grade halls.
Stacy Underwood, Belhaven resident and FPDS parent, will create two pieces of featured art this year, one on display at each home.
Ready, Set, Bid!
The Holiday Potpourri auction team is busy gathering items for our live and silent auctions. Held in conjunction with the Crusader Party on August 19, this year's live auction will feature a variety of trips, fun gatherings, and art. Well-known local artist Carol Sneed has graciously donated a painting that will match any color palette. The live auction will also feature a long weekend getaway to Rosemary Beach at a cottage that can sleep up to 14, has a private pool and hot tub, and is steps away from one of the best beaches in the world. If you miss out on these, there will be plenty of other items at the silent auction, which goes online October 3 and continues through October 18. Final bids can be placed at Holiday Potpourri on October 21.
