December Message from our Chaplain

Posted on December 10, 2018

Dear FPDS Families,

As y’all know, another joy-filled season is upon us. It’s the most wonderful time of the year ~ a season to reflect upon the greatest mystery this side of the new heavens and new earth when the second person of the triune Godhead would take on humanity, fully identifying with us, in order to “save his people from their sins.” It’s interesting in that, as we reflect upon the Biblical narrative of Jesus’ birth, every living being responds in some form or fashion to the events: the angels declared, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased…” Mary exclaimed: “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior…” The wise men “rejoiced exceedingly with great joy…fell down and worshipped him.” And the shepherds returned, “glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen.” Every living creature in heaven and earth was taken aback…astonished…recognizing the absolute uniqueness of this moment in time and space. The hearts of the wealthy and the poor respond equally to the news. The news of a long-awaited promise fulfilled! All of which results in their rather natural response expressed through song, words of praise, and expressions of adoration!

It was a day forever imprinted in their minds, and one that would forever mark human history!

And this is our great joy as we remember, reflect on, and celebrate the glory of Christmas!

What a privilege? All glory, praise, and honor to the Redeemer King!

As we wrap up our Chapel services for the year, over the next couple of weeks, we will explore the wondrous theme of Jesus’ birth through song, reading, and hearing short messages. Please be praying that the Lord would be pleased to use this season in your child’s heart and life, so that they may more fully understand the profound implications of what it means to be ‘Rooted in Christ.’

Over the last four months, I’ve been privileged to lead devotions in a number of the FPDS classrooms, and one of the books that I’ve used – filled with true life stories and analogies – has been very well received. Therefore, I thought I would include a couple of suggested devotionals and/or books for your son or daughter Christmas stocking. These are great Christmas gift ideas:

(1) Building on the Rock Series:;

(2) Small Devotionals, Big Beliefs:; and

(3) History Lives:

May the Lord grant each of you a blessed Christmas, and may He mark your steps into the 2019.

Blessings in Christ,
Gary Sinclair
