Under the Oaks PK Program Director
Ann Claridge Chestnut

Ann Claridge is a native of Jackson and graduated from Belhaven University. Following graduation from college, Ann worked part-time at both a local preschool and magazine. After a few years, she had the desire to work full-time with children, which led to four years as a teacher in the FPDS Staff Nursery. Ann attends Redeemer Presbyterian Church, where she sings in the choir and enjoys working with the youth group. “I am so excited to be a part of the preschool, not only to teach these little ones about letters and numbers, but, more importantly, teach them all about the love of Jesus Christ and share His amazing story with them,” says Ann, who is an alum of FPDS.

Under the Oaks PK Program Co-Director
Cindy Wilks

Cindy is a native of Jackson and a resident of Madison. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Millsaps College. Cindy’s previous experience includes kindergarten and second grade teacher at Jackson Public Schools, substitute and Homework Express teacher at a local independent school, many years at a local preschool, and Bricks 4 Kidz summer camp instructor. She and her husband, Tip, have two children, Catherine Ann Wilks Powell and Alex. They attend First Presbyterian Church. Cindy enjoys cooking, playing the piano, reading, traveling to historical places, and working in the garden. “I am very humbled to be an important part in these students’ lives at FPDS while teaching in an environment where a student’s Christian and educational growth is enhanced through biblical teachings,” she says.
