Carolyn was raised by Christian parents here in Jackson, which has always been her home. She began working with young people as a teenager, and as her college years began, she felt a very definite call from the Lord to teach, finishing at Mississippi College with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. Her teaching experience includes: fourth and sixth grades in the Jackson Public Schools; fourth grade at Hillcrest Christian School; and in 1972 she joined the FPDS faculty, teaching sixth grade, junior high school and kindergarten over the years. Carolyn married her husband in 1967, and they have one adult daughter who is an interior designer and a son-in-law. She had the unique experience of teaching math to her daughter in the seventh, eighth and ninth grades here at FPDS. “The most important person in my life is my Savior and Lord, and I pray He will direct my every decision. As a parent I understand how precious your child is to you, and the awesome responsibility that is mine while I have your child in my classroom,” she says. She and her family attend First Baptist Church, Jackson.
