First Presbyterian Day School

Cherry Dean was born in Minnesota but moved to Mississippi at age four. She attended the University of Mississippi and Belhaven University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She also received a Master’s degree in elementary education from Mississippi College. Cherry Dean taught at Wilkinson County Christian Academy for seven years and in the Jackson Public School District and Education Center for five years and 18 summers. She attended New York Cooking School had a catering business called Kitchen Delights for 10 years. She came to FPDS in 1999. “This is a wonderful working atmosphere and family,” she says. “Teaching from a Christian viewpoint is so rewarding – knowing that we are planting seeds of Christlikeness.” Cherry Dean has several brothers and sisters and enjoys reading, cooking, gardening and attending church at First Presbyterian, Jackson. “If I had children, I can’t imagine sending them anywhere else – knowing the foundation they would get and the Christian love shown each day – all day.”
