5th Grade
The fifth grade is when we start to prepare our students for middle school and high school. Students will travel as a unit to their four core subject areas as they are introduced to more responsibilities and activities.
ACADEMICS
The four core subjects include Math, English Language Arts, Science and Spanish. Fifth graders will focus heavily on comprehension, writing skills, grammar and spelling to prepare for middle school literature.

TECHNOLOGY
Fifth graders are given a personal iPad that is taken home daily. They also work in the Innovation Lab every week.
BIBLICAL EDUCATION
Fifth graders will study Old and New Testament passages that develop God’s Covenant of Grace through all of Scripture. Students will also memorize fifteen Bible verses throughout the year that correspond to their units of study.
ACTIVITIES
Fifth graders go to one “special” per day, rotating between Art History, Music, Library and Innovation Lab. Extracurriculars include the Podcast Club, Robotics Club and Latin Club. Fifth graders will perform their final play at FPDS – a musical called Acorns to Oaks.
ATHLETICS
Fifth graders can compete in basketball, football, track and cheer. We also have an intramural basketball season.

Service
Fifth graders are taught to make positive choices and learn from their mistakes. They take part in all school service projects, as well as Preschool Serve, where they walk Pre-K students to class every morning.
