Bettye Quinn Education Award Winner, Kim Duhs!
For those in the Belhaven community, there is hardly a name in the Education Department with as much recognition as Bettye Quinn. With a combined 61 years of teaching experience, Ms. Quinn established a legacy of teaching and serving that has influenced countless others. She daily lived the Belhaven University motto, “to serve, not to be served.”
Earlier this summer, First Presbyterian Day School was contacted by Belhaven University. They wanted to recognize one of our own staff members who embodies those qualities of Ms. Quinn, Mrs. Kim Duhs!
At this year’s FPDS Teacher Inservice, the Belhaven Office of Advancement and School of Education surprised Mrs. Duhs with the Bettye Quinn Education Award. This award is given annually to a Belhaven School of Education graduate who reflects Ms. Quinn’s dedication, commitment, and loyalty to teaching and service to their community.
We are so proud of Mrs. Duhs and her commitment not only to First Presbyterian Day School, but also to education and service in our community. Mrs. Duhs has taught kindergarten at FPDS for over 20 years, and just recently became the Kindergarten Principal overseeing K3-K5. Her unique ability to serve both children and adults is truly a God-given talent, and we join Belhaven University in recognizing and celebrating Mrs. Kim Duhs!
